Name: Isis Alias: Goddess of Magic and Life Age:
The Daughter of two primal Gods, it would be impossible to say, and even more pointless to try and find out. Species:
Energist Height: 5 Feet, 10 Inches Weight: ???
Appearence: A graceful, dignified appearence
is the best one could use to describe her. She never dresses in a racy or provocative manner, preferring conservative dress
except when she expects to be doing battle. As she sees herself above mortal beings, she doesn't see any point in attempting
to attract members of the opposite sex. However, since love was also a part of her portfolio as a deity, she nevertheless
maintains a very attractive appearence, long, dark hair, olive skin, and dark eyes. Her voice is somewhat accented, though
it is an accent that only one from ancient Egypt, Rome, or Greece might be able to pinpoint, since her voice has taken on
inflection from all of those who worshiped her while she was still a goddess. She has only one truely distinguishing mark,
a birthmark in reality, that no power can truely duplicate, since doing so would mark that person as Isis, and only she is
Isis, the symbol looks like this, and only she has this symbol, drawn exactly in that color and shade on her left forearm. This is a mark which would immedietely
identify her as the goddess she is, though it would also likely raise as many questions as it would answer.
History:
Isis is revered as the Goddess of many different things, rebirth, magic, the Sky, Moon, so many different things. It is, however,
healing, life, and Magic she is most well known for. By far the most popular of the Egyptian gods, she was widely revered
for her wisdom, patience, and caring nature. She revived her dead husband Osiris back to life, setting him as the Lord of
the Underworld after he had been murdered by Set, whom she considers her eternal foe. For untold thousands of years, she was
the most popular, for another untold thousand years, she was also the most powerful, having tricked the Sun God Ra into giving
up his secret name, thus gaining his powers over Life and Death. This was as it was, how it should be, but then, something
terrible happened, something truely tragic. A once benevolent Goddess has fallen from grace into darkness.
This all
is a result of her war with Set, the evil brother of Osiris who, for years, also desired Isis, so he could claim the Throne
as King of the Gods, but she favored Osiris, creating a ageless conflict, a conflict which has now spilled into ADA.
An
unknown event sparked this conflict between Isis and Set, something beyond the sight of mortalkind(Including even those as
powerful as Council Members and Guides), an event of the Divine. Set had attempted to, once again, destroy Osiris, and nearly
succeeded, but in the process, he enraged Isis. Isis, normally a serene, peaceful Goddess, had a dark side rarely spoken of,
but, she was, if pressed, capable of wreaking terrible destruction, since she also possessed the ability to inflict death
as she chose. Set had enraged her greatly in this once more attempt on her husbands life, and she, for the first time, fought
Set alone, in places out of sight of any but the Gods.
For years it seems, they fought, neither able to gain the upper
hand, Set using trechery and his minions to hold Isis at bay, but even he knew it was inevitable, she was the more powerful,
and eventually, it was only a matter of time before she struck the killing blow. Set prepared one more decietful, spiteful
act to make the most of his destruction at her hands. Finally, she found him, and though he tried his best to stay her hand,
Isis, in the end, proved to be the more powerful of the two, and she struck him down, turning him into the serpent she always
saw him as, and then trod upon his head to slay him. Even Isis, with all of her power, all of her sight, and all her wisdom,
could not forsee what the result of her actions would be.
Set had prepared a powerful curse, using magic even the Gods
would normally quail before using, but he did, and as he died, his essence, the evil within him, flowed into Isis, instantly
turning her warm heart cold, turning her Goodness to Evil, and twisting everything she had once stood for. Realizing the power
she possessed, she knew, that none could stand before her, or, she thought none could, but no longer would she be content
to rule together with Osiris, she would slay him as well, and seize the throne for herself.
Going to her husband, she
prepared to slay him as quickly and easily as she had once brought him back to life. But, Osiris, warned by Ra, was ready
for her to return, and prepared a trap for her, which she fell into, her judgement clouded by the evil within. Having trapped
her, Osiris and Ra worked a great magic, they were unable to pull the evil out of Isis, but, they could remove most of her
power, leaving her little more then a small spark of the Divine that she had once possessed. This act finished, they then
banished Isis from the Realms of the Gods, forever sealing her away from her once great glory, though Osiris secretly hoped
that, perhaps, one day, his wife would return whole, good once again, and then he could restore her power. Finding herself
in a mortal realm for the first time for thousands of years, Isis was more prepared then one might expect. Though she had
not lived in mortal realms, she had certainly observed, so she was well aware of how humans conducted themselves, and equally
as aware of the conflicts between the Demonic world and forces of Good. Knowing the powers supporting good would spot the
Evil within her, she had no choice but to join a force for Evil, the Academy of Demonic Arts.
Goals are quite simple,
to break past the barrier seperating her from her Divine realm, and reclaim her power as a Goddess, she knows to do this will
require far, far more power then she currently possesses.
Personality: As at one point one of the most powerful
Divine beings in existence, she has handled her sudden...state relatively well. Though still immortal, ageless, and still
possessing powers beyond most normal mortals, she suddenly finds herself somewhat vulnrable to mortal attacks, something she
has never had to worry about. Regardless of this, she refuses to show any fear to any she considers beneath her, which includes
almost everyone. She can show a veneer of civility and politeness when it suits her purposes, and her only purpose is power.
It would be a very bad mistake for anyone to take any unexplained act of kindness on her part as anything but her vision for
a quest for greater power.
She is one of the few Goddesses to ever have looked beyond her own sphere of influence,
her temples having once been raised in Rome, indeed, the Madonna and Child paintings were in part inspired by descriptions
of Isis and her son Horus. She bitterly hates Osiris now, for stripping her of her power, and she refuses to come out except
at night, for to view the Sun is to view Ra in her eyes, another she despises. But nighttime, she feels comfortable, for the
Moon was something always associated with her, and remains so even to this day. A result of all of this is that she has had
a fairly broad base of experiences to draw upon in her dealings with others.
Never an aggressive Deity except the very
time that brought about her downfall, she does not take her loss of ability to inflict death at her will too badly. Even at
her peak, she rarely confronted aggressors directly anyway, preferring to simply bide her time, using her enemies inevitable
mistakes, then finding a way to strike the killing blow...all without ever raising a hand of her own, however, when angered,
she does not hesitate to kill anyone in her way. It is unlikely she would become seriously involved in demonic politics, seeing
herself above such trivial nonsense, as she retains her Godly pride, nor would she ever consent to any romantic or serious
relationship with any demon, since she does not see herself as a demon, and certainly holds herself above such baseless concepts
as demons or witches. She helps only to regain power, perhaps, one day enough to crack the barrier and slip into her Divine
Realm, reclaiming her power, then ruling for all eternity, as she feels is not only her destiny, but her Birthright.
